Fingal Environmental Group
Facilitated Meeting - 3
Facilitator: Fiona McAuslan.
Duration: 2 hours
Aim: To organise the first big event scheduled for 24th of March 2007.
1) Event: After initial discussion the group decided to change the date of the event to Saturday the 24th of March 10:00 until 13:30. Duncan Stuart is available to be the key note speaker.
Tasks: A) Eugene will re-book Draíocht for the above date, from 09:00 - 14:00. The preference is for upstairs or the 60x30 room downstairs. The group has given Eugene the clearance to find another venue if Draíocht is not available. The date should not be changed.
B) Monica will confirm Duncan Stuart as the speaker and will discuss the focus of the talk he will give.
2) Purpose of Event: The purpose for the 24th is to draw in and engage more
of the environmental groups in Fingal with the idea of a Network. While the public will be invited, the main focus for the marketing and the event itself should be the other environmental groups.
3) Structure of the Morning: After some discussion the following was decided:
Please note times are subject to refinement.
10:00 - Introduction. Including an overview of the project so far.
10:20 - Talk by Duncan Stuart.
11:30 - Mixing around the stands. Networking.
12: 30 - Facilitated roundtable discussion. The focus for this part of the session will be to draw in the groups and hear their initial thoughts on an Environmental Network. They will be invited to a follow on meeting after this event to discuss and develop the network.
13:20 - Close.
4) Content for the Marketing Campaign: The vision for the environmental network will grow with the development of the group, however, it was felt that something should be articulated in the advertising of the event. This is a good opportunity to market the idea itself.
The following summary was agreed as the content for the marketing sub-group:
‘The network will give the groups in Fingal better communication between each other. There would be the opportunity for sharing experience and ‘best practise’ . It would be possible to pool resources and expertise when needed.
Developing a network will give the groups an opportunity to raise the environmental profile with the public and organise a cohesive voice within the policy making arena. There is also the possibility of accessing funding.
5) The following sub - groups were formed:
- To come up with a good name for group (maybe Fingal Environmental Network) and the event.
- To implement the strategy.
Personnel: Maria, Monica, Roderick, Orlaith.
Co-ordination of Stands: Tasks - Organise enough stands.
- Co-ordinate exhibiters.
- Communicate with exhibiters.
Personnel: Eugene, Monica, Brendan.
Budget: All forecast costing should be sent to Eugene no later than the next group meeting. He will then look for an appropriate budget from FCC.
The sub-groups will report back to the next meeting. Other members of the group have agreed to be co-opted as the work load increases.
The next meeting will be on 27/02/07 at 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
