Minutes of the Dublin 15 Environment Group Meeting

 

 

 

Date:            Tuesday 17^th October 2006

Time:           7pm

Present:       Monica, Maria, Deivis, Petrina

Absent:        Maeve, Eugene, Orla, Vera

 

Firstly there was a catch up session on the last meeting.

Maria and Monica gave an outline of the last meeting, including a review of the minutes.

Discussion on actions from the previous minutes- progress made and the next steps required.

 

Work for next facilitated session- 7^th Nov

 

• Letter of invite to selected  groups

Letter already drafted by Monica and was sent to Petrina, unfortunately wasn’t received due to e-mail glitch,

Action 1          Monica to re-send letter ASAP to Petrina for proof and distribution to rest of team.

Monica outlined the approach taken in her letter and it was agreed that the approach taken was positive and in keeping with the Fingal Environment Forum aims.

 

Next Steps:      Letter needs to be finalised ASAP to give adequate notice to the

groups invited.

 

Action 2          Petrina will forward letter to rest of group as soon as received from Monica

Action 3          All, Letter needs to be finalised by Friday 20^th Oct so please review letter by this time and provide comments.

Action 4          Maria will e-mail letters on ‘D15 environment group’ headed paper (group logo) and also post where necessary over the weekend/early part of next week.

 

• Groups selected

Petrina discussed groups selected through her review of the ‘Dublin City Environmental Directory 2004’; groups being arranged by theme

‘education, health, litter, physical, planning, policy, pollution, protest, recycling, resources, training, volunteering, wildlife and youth’ and also postcode. Approach taken was wide to ensure broad representation. Group comments reinforced the focus of ‘Fingal specific’ groups for the purposes of the 7^th Nov meeting.

 

Next Steps:      Identifying the groups to invite

Action 5          Petrina agreed to revisit groups (and contact details) and check which are in the Fingal area- via checking Fingal map/postcodes that are specific to the area and to forward list to rest of team by Friday the 20^th Oct. (Eugene to note these groups and maintain the master list)

Action 6          Petrina to e-mail Eugene to request the list of registered Fingal groups by Wednesday the 18^th Oct.

Action 7          Petrina to review ‘Directory of community services for the Dublin 15 area 2006’ to check for environmental groups, again by Friday 20^th Oct

Action 8          Deivis to contact the Horticultural centre, Castleknock to check whether they have a list of environment groups by Friday 20^th Oct.

Action 9          Monica to contact Eugene regards facilitator and groups by Friday 20^th Oct.

Action 10        Monica to contact Gerry Clabby by Friday 20^th Oct.

Action 11        Monica to contact DOE by Friday 20^th Oct.

Action 12        Monica to contact Peter (Community voice) by Friday 20^th Oct.

Action 13        Monica to contact Roderick Green Party—for his contacts (not political views!) by Friday 20^th Oct. (Possibly Valerie has his contact details)

Action 14        All, proof list of groups by Monday 23^rd Oct, do we have a good spread of groups?

 

Action 15        Petrina to circulate minutes and actions by Wednesday the 18^th Oct.

 

 

Next Meeting : 1^st Nov—A Wednesday in light of Halloween the day before.

 

Action 16        Maria to book room in library.

Aim of meeting to check all is on track for the 7^th Nov meeting and to have a discussion on agenda for this meeting. What will we be discussing with the invited groups?

• Monica brought in a “community award competition” flyer which she has passed to Deivis to progress as could raise our visibility.
• Deivis discussed a “facilitator funding” flyer, and whether it could be of benefit to the group- he has sent off for the application form so can discuss in the group when the form arrives and the criteria is clear.
1. Monica considered that a successful outcome of the environmental forum could be to justify the need for an assigned worker which would meet the requirements of facilitator funding. Monica did not think that the Dublin 15 group would meet these criteria at present.
