Minutes of the Dublin 15 Environment Group Meeting Date: Tuesday 29 November Time: 7pm Present: Monica, Maria, Maeve, Frédéric, Davis, Valerie Absent: Petrina
The main order of events was the upcoming Energy talk and Eco-Christmas Decorations event. Energy Jay Stewart, an energy consultant is giving the energy talk on Thursday 1st December. Martin from Forde Furniture who do Wood Pellet stoves is also coming. He will try to bring a couple of stoves. The date means we cannot get it advertised in the Community Voice in time so how to get a reasonable turnout is our big focus. Kidnappings and blackmail may be in order. €100 is needed to pay the speaker, Valerie & Monica will take it from the credit union. Actions Left for the Energy Event The SEI (Paul Dykes) agreed to send us information packs but didn’t. Maria will follow up. Extra Advertising: Local Radios – On Wednesday 30 November Maria will be interviewed by Dr Shaheed Satardies of Phoenix FM. She refused to divulge the frequency but luckily I found it online – 92.5FM. Valerie may get a list of local businesses from Maria Douglas (Fingal CC) who we could invite to the event. Monica will invite Fergus of the Community Voice. Davis will put up posters in Castleknock.
Christmas There is nothing outstanding on this. Those who can will turn up. Thursday 8th December 6-8. Any Other Business 1. The Heritage Plan is being launched in Swords. Monica was invited, she will forward details around. 2. There is a new directory for local groups coming out. Monica will see if she can get a copy of a Siobhan. 3. Valerie and Monica got a letter from the Parks Dept inviting them to a Tolka Park project. They are landscaping etc there and are looking for community involvement. But the meeting clashed with our meeting. The status will sent to Valerie. Hans Visser (8905605)/Therese Casey(8905631) of Fingal CC are the contacts. 4. Valerie has tried to order the 2006 Enfo calendars, but Enfo are not accepting orders. They reckon they will not be ready in January anyway. 5. Maria has set up a group email address we can use for advertising and for contacting external people – so that we can all follow the thread. 6. Website. There is a new estate near the town centre where the landscaping has not been finished. Monica would like the responsible persons brought to task. Valerie will ask David Fennel of Fingal CC Parks what the story is. 8. Our Christmas Party is due for Wednesday 7th December in the Thai Garden. Maria will book it. 7:30pm. If the 7th doesn’t suit Petrina, we may change to the 12th. The proposed date for the next meeting is Tuesday 10th of January. Valerie will book a room & a flip chart. At this meeting we should each bring a list of what we would like to achieve in 2006 with a view to planning at least the first few months of 2006.
