Minutes of the Dublin 15 Environment Group Meeting Date: Tuesday 7th March 2006 Time: 7pm Present: Maria, Maeve, Deivis Absent: Frédéric, Valerie, Monica, Petrina The idea of the meeting was to brainstorm on possible future networking, as discussed at the last meeting. But it got quite sidetracked and not much was decided on regarding that topic. Networking It is felt the focus of such a steering group would need to be more defined and use stronger words. In order to distinguish from our own group we began work on a mission statement but didn’t get it done. It was felt the input of more members was needed. Some key words: Environment Nature Awareness Community Practical Accessible Sustainable Enjoyment National Tree Week (March) Gardening for Wildlife Workshop Maeve to post to websites and confirm with IPCC. Tolka Valley Renewal (Febuary) All events were thought to be very positive. Nothing much will be happening now till September. Hanging Backets/Seed Distribution (April) Patricia Kennedy called. She will attend on the 25th. Per email from Monica this is not yet confirmed with Roy. Article needs to be written for end of March (April edition if CV). Provisionally set for Tuesday May 9th as part of Green Fingal Week – this needs to be confirmed with Roy and Patricia. Green Fingal Week Deivis will do a Bonsai workshop (as well as the hanging basket one we are doing). Need to source very young trees for this. Maeve will check the nursery in Aughrim. Any Other Business Re. putting up a ‘Our next meeting is at xxx’ whiteboard type thing in the library foyar, permission would need to be sought from Carmel of the Library Admin staff. Maria will check with her. We can put something onto the existing notice boards, but they are quite cluttered. Deivis will look into getting such a A5 object. There is a tree in Dublin Zoo where Deivis volunteers. He would like it in a put donated by us with our logo etc. on it. Bonsai. Maeve will check whether such a pot can be made. Maria will ask Enfo for more ‘stuff’, to be distributed at our upcoming workshops. Hundreds of trees on the M50 have been choped down. Maeve is to write a letter on this. It is has made the road ugly(er). A camcorder/camera should be brougt to the workshops to have some ‘evidence’. In the Community voice we need to add our logo to our articles. We should try to put one in every month with ‘our next meeting is at…’. Even if we don’t write an actual article. Deivis wants to investigate solar panels for generation of electricity. May be usefull for our energy workshop. The proposed date for the next meeting is Tuesday 21st of March. The wildlife workshop is on Monday 13th, which most members can attend. |
