Minutes of the Dublin 15 Environment Group Meeting Date: Tuesday 16th May 2006 Time: 6:30pm Present: Maeve, Deivis, Monica, Maria Absent: Frédéric, Valerie, Petrina Energy Event Maria will start looking for a person to present an energy workshop. Preferably the week of September 18th, Energy Awareness Week. Maeve is to write an article for the CV, asking for locals to contact her re. Energy changes they have made in their own homes. With a view to sharing their experience with other d15ers. Networking – Fingal Environment Forum Eugene joined the meeting to discuss. It was agreed to move forward with one or two facilitated meeting before the summer break. However it was felt a steering group like this would need about eight members. We are about 5 stable, it was proposed: Valerie (fingal co co) - Monica to contact Connie (ex- blanch citizen information centre) – Monica to contact Una (tidy towns) – Maeve to contact Someone from the canal group (ask Una) – Maeve to contact Philip Jennings (youth group) – Monica to contact Steve Butler (zoo) – Deivis to contact Ex-Members of the d15 environment group – Monica to contact People who left their names at workshops – Maria to contact It is proposed that Monica will ask July Cronin and/or Annett Haming to facilitate. Provisionally 30th May and/or 6th June. 6:30-8:30. Maria will book rooms for both those dates. The larger event with invitees from all over Fingal may be held in September. Expect around 60 people. Deivis proposes we theme it on the four elements. E.g. Air (pollution), Stone (housing) etc. Any Other Business Maeve Maeve is to give others detail on green building seminars being run in temple bar by cutivate. Monica is still owed €16 from the Bonsai Workshop. Need to get the credit union book. Monica is to ask Ray if he can run a general gardening workshop in june. The article on this for the CV will need to be done asap if we are going ahead with it. Maria will do this if Ray can run the workshop. She will also send in the Bonsai one which missed the deadline last month. The stone for the tree at the Blanchardstown centre is en-route. We plan on having a ‘grand opening’, with invited guests. Petrina, being artistic, to do the invites. Monica to mail the minutes to ex-members. With the elections in mind next year, Monica would like to stage a public event will the local polictians invited to give their views on environmental issues. With a trained facilitator. All agreed. Maria gave an outline of the Tolka Valley project. She is part of the masterplan sub-group, Deivis of Safety. Each subgroup plans on holding four meetings during June/July. The council (Hans & Theresa) are working very hard to get local involvement – organising walks through the park, getting kids planting trees. |
