This section outlines the procedures for obtaining
(a) the location of the 150m markers,

150 Metre Markers
A golf club is permitted to place a marker to be used as a reference point  for members but more particularly, visitors, in assessing the length of a shot to a green. A marker is of particular value when the shot is ‘blind’, In this jurisdiction there is no standard marker and this section offers a method of standardising markers. The standard length of 150 metres from the centre of the green is chosen with the marker, which is a type of Distance Point, placed in the semi-rough.

This publication suggests that a concrete block (100mm x 215mm x 225mm) painted white and set 20mm below mower height 1.0 metre from the closely mown fairway  in the semi-rough on the right hand side of the fairway would be ideal and could be used as the standard 150m marker throughout the jurisdiction and further afield if necessary.
This marker could be adopted by all golf courses and would represent placing a new standardised mark on a golf course. It has the following significant advantages: readily available and inexpensive,  does not require movement for mowing, not easily moved but if moved leaves an imprint so that it can easily be replaced; can be regarded as an immovable obstruction under the rules of golf.

The Measurement Officer shall ensure that the 150m markers described above have accuracy and precision. All other fairway markers would be removed.Only one marker per hole would be used.  No marker would be placed on a hole less than 150m. If this were adopted throughout the jurisdiction then there would be only one standard marker (150m to the centre of the green) on every golf course and this would bring unity and standardisation to this aspect of the game.

The golfer would determine the length of a particular shot by reference to the standard 150 m marker and by pacing.
