OPENING STATEMENT

Documentation has a key role in the production of certified measured length. This is achieved under two headings (a) records and (b) certificates.. This section makes suggestions how these items should be handled.

Records

It is the responsibility of the Club Measurement Officer

(I) To make records and store them in a secure location. The records involved in the process described in this publication are not excessive and for that reason hand written records should be used. A computer system is not necessary,

(2) Record the certified measured length of each hole which can be used to generate a certificate.

(3) In a records note book record details about the 150 metre markers and the measurements of the holes on each putting green from time to time.

(4) Make use of the forms given in this publication.

Event Form : Each measuring session should be considered as an event and a Club Event Form completed.

Certificates

The certified measured lengths are logged on a Measurement Form. When two independent measurements are available for nine hole the Total Measured Length for each hole is transferred to a Certificate of Measured Length. The data is tested to see if the error of measurement is within the agreed 2%. Data that is acceptable is then recorded on the certificate and becomes the Certified Measured Length. If at any hole the error is not acceptable then all the results for that hole are rejected and the hole is measured again in two independent sessions. This process is continued until the error fits within the agreed value of 2%.
