IRISH ITF TAEKWON-DO MASTER RECEIVES SPAIN’S HIGHEST AWARD AT INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR

At a recent International Taekwon-Do Seminar given by IX Degree Grand Master Rhee Ki-Ha in Alcoy, Spain, Master Paul Kavanagh was presented with Spain’s highest award by the President of ITF Taekwon-Do in Spain, Master Mario Pons Botella, in recognition of the help and support given by Master Kavanagh to ITF Spain over the past two years.

The seminar was attended by over fifty students from six countries who enjoyed intensive training and corrections by Grand Master Rhee in all aspects of the fundamental movements and patterns of Taekwon-Do. Even after only two days the improvement in standards could be seen in the students.

Surprise visitors to the seminar were three Korean Masters who had trained under General Choi Hong-Hi, the Legendary Founder of Taekwon-Do, more than thirty years ago. Because of the intense political pressure in those days they emigrated to Spain and Portugal and became isolated from the main Taekwon-Do group. Hearing that the world famous Grand Master Rhee Ki-Ha was giving a seminar in Spain, they took the opportunity to visit the seminar and express their desire to re-join the main ITF Taekwon-Do Federation.
